ONE WORD REVIEW: STAGGERING
A great documentary to watch in these times, to educate oneself on the need for the Black Lives Matter movement in the twenty-first century. Full of a variety of shocking individual stories about institutional racism in America, and the general history of this racism. Being only an hour and 40 minutes in length, it is unsurprising that some elements are rushed over, and some of the unjust deaths and imprisonments of black people are not explained fully, due to the lack of time. Still, the documentary is informative, and succeeds in “shocking people to action,” as is named a necessary means for change to occur, within the documentary itself. Furthermore, due to the small budget, it is unsurprising that the actual filming is not superb. That said, this does not detract from the power of the piece, particularly in this time of political unrest.
