ONE WORD REVIEW: SHAME

The life story of renowned journalist Marie Colvin (Rosamund Pike), from when she lost her eye, to her death. Rosamund Pike perhaps offers the best performance of her career, and unfortunately the film does not support such a performance. The narrative is disjointed, and portrays a marvellous, ground-breaking reporter, as a nicotine addict and alcoholic, who is rather promiscuous. This is a very disappointing, rather old-fashioned presentation of a successful woman, and does not portray why she was outstanding as a reporter. Even in her final moments, the risk she took which eventually led to her own death, is rushed over. A disappointing presentation of a rather marvellous reporter.
