ONE WORD REVIEW: UNEXCITING

The true story of female French author Colette, who was manipulated into publishing her celebrated Claudine novels under his name, ‘Willy.’ Audiences learn about her past in a very strange style. Years are skipped over, and key elements such as her decision to regain the book rights from her husband, are rushed. Yet, there are time for numerous sex scenes, and the exploration of a rather strange time of her life where she toured a rather unpopular piece of theatre while pursuing a homosexual relationship. The film itself makes you feel slightly betrayed by the trailer, which invites audiences to watch what seems to be a discussion of female rights, into something just quite dull. Disappointing.
