ONE WORD REVIEW: FUNNY
A film that could make even a funeral-goer laugh. So absurd, rather unbelievable, and hilariously funny as a result. Matthew Macfayden and Rupert Graves play two brothers who are hosting their father’s funeral, which was hoped to have been more successful, but with an unexpected guest, and an unexpected drugs presence, Dean Craig’s screenplay causes the kind of laughter that hurts. Frank Oz’s direction is magnificent and allows audiences to feel sympathy towards the characters who were expecting a more normal occasion. Unfortunately, there are times when the British humour goes a bit too far and is just quite rude, but overall, it is such an original production that should have received more critical acclaim.
