ONE WORD REVIEW: SAME
Another Jane Austen translated to cinema, but this time it’s exactly like every other film or TV series about Emma. It is, of course, enjoyable, but it is certainly not individual. I question the need for another remake. Anya Taylor-Joy and Johnny Flynn’s chemistry is strong and enhances their individual performances. Autumn de Wilde’s direction is rather good, with some gorgeous extreme long shots of beautiful scenery, and Alexandra Byrne’s costume design is impressive, but undoubtedly not original. The film does make audiences smile and feel a bit happier, that said.
