ONE WORD REVIEW: INTENSE

Audiences are given an insight into the terror of working in the LAPD, through the friendship between two officers, Brian (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Mike (Michael Peña). Innovatively filmed, using clips from Brian’s ‘filmmaking module,’ where he records the work of police inside and outside of their job. While their commitment to their work is undisputed, they find themselves caught up with some of LA’s most dangerous criminals, in the most unsafe neighbourhoods. Director David Ayer captures work in the police force like no other, presenting them as admirable, charming, but most of all, tough. Ayer’s screenplay is engaging, and allows the actors to fully embody their roles, as figures to be both respected and feared.
