ONE WORD REVIEW: ENLIGHTENING
Based on the book by François Bégaudeau, audiences are welcomed into Monsieur Marin’s classroom, in Paris, where he tries to control a cohort of students seemingly disinterested in education as a concept. Earning multiple awards for its interesting insight into the lives of those rarely shown on screen and allows audiences to sympathise with the struggle of both the teachers and students in these environments. The young actors, a mix of real school children and performers, are marvellous, and audiences truly feel for them, despite some questionable actions. Khoumba and Souleyman grab the audience’s attention, as debate occurs due to the supposedly unfair treatment of the pair of them. Brilliant film.
