ONE WORD REVIEW: BRUTAL

Directed by stuntman Sam Hargrave, it is no surprise that the fight scenes and moments of violence in the film are like no other; terribly impressive and realistic. Unfortunately, other elements of the filmmaking do not support such terrific choreography. In between the violence there are some awfully cringe moments, where we discover Chris Hemsworth character’s past, supported by an even worse soundtrack, which could be taken straight out of a soap opera. Nevertheless, Hemsworth’s performance is engaging within a narrative with some large plot holes. For his directorial debut, while Hargrave has room for improvement, ‘Extraction’ is an impressive first attempt.
