ONE WORD REVIEW: CHARMING
For a film that received such criticism after winning best picture at the Oscars, this is an amazing film. It explores racism in the American South in the 1960s, as a friendship develops between a celebrated black pianist, Dr Shirley (Mahershala Ali) and his white driver from the Bronx, Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen). Lip leaves behind his family for two months to drive Dr Shirley to his concerts. The film is heart-warming, and informative as to the struggles of the racial divide differences between Northern and Southern America. A fabulous film, certainly worthy of its Academy Awards, and of any kind of celebration. The screenplay itself is terrific, being terribly realistic, and the acting is even more extraordinary. A must-see.
