ONE WORD REVIEW: DIFFERENT

1 hour and 40 minutes of fun is the only way to describe this film. Following young Ricky Baker, who has lived in care all of his life and is negatively described by a care worker in the film’s opening, Taika Waititi’s narrative is surprisingly uplifting. After being taken in by a childless couple living on the outskirts of the New Zealand wilderness, a police manhunt takes place to find the boy and his newfound ‘Uncle’, played by Sam Neill. The film will evoke laughter among any audience and remains hopeful throughout. While challenging the stereotype that the media and the police are always in the right, the two protagonists make us all want to have as much fun as they do in their nature adventure.
