In Bruges (2008)

Updated: Jun 9, 2020

5/5

ONE WORD REVIEW: INDIVIDUAL

Two assassins, Ray (Colin Farrell) and Ken (Brendan Gleeson), are sent to Bruges in Belgium to ‘recover’ after a failed mission. However, tensions rise as Ken is told by his boss, Harry Waters (Ralph Feinnes) to kill Ray. The film has an understated humour, which carries the narrative, as does the fabulous acting. Audiences sympathise with each character, and small moments of comedy which could easily have been excluded add to the marvellous production. Director and screenwriter Martin McDonagh shines, creating a movie that would even encourage audiences to visit the beautiful, but ‘dull’ Bruges.
