ONE WORD REVIEW: SAD
One of the few films to receive 100% on RottenTomatoes offers a thought-provoking narrative. A father (Ben Foster) and daughter (Thomasin McKenzie) duo choose to live outside of society, in a nature reserve before being discovered, which alters their way of life permanently. The two main actors are amazing, and Debra Granik's screenplay is sad, making audiences question the need for the materialism on which the Western world relies. They each have complicated backgrounds, such as a strange upbringing and a military background. The other characters communicate society's shock and fear towards their chosen way of life, often accusing the pair of having an unhealthy relationship - a highly recommended, slow film which somehow remains gripping.
