The Big Sick (2017)

5/5

ONE WORD REVIEW: HILARIOUS

Written by real-life couple Kumail and Emily about the beginning of their relationship, ‘The Big Sick’ follows a young Pakistani stand-up comedian, who falls in love, much to his parents’ dismay, with a white American woman. When Emily unexpectedly goes into a coma, Kumail forms a bond with her parents. With some rather inappropriate, but laugh-out-loud jokes, it is pretty difficult not to enjoy this movie. One of the best rom coms ever made, heart-warming, and hilariously individual. The acting is fabulously naturalistic, the characters are loveable, and the romantic elements are as impressive as the comedy.
