ONE WORD REVIEW: BRILLIANT
American Woman is not only a great film but an acting masterclass by the one and only Sienna Miller. Deeply moving and engaging and focuses on the trauma experienced by a mother whose daughter is missing, rather than a ‘whodunnit’ film, like so many before. This different approach allows the audience to sympathise deeply with Miller’s character, Debra, hating those who cause her pain, both physically and emotionally, and desperately hoping for her to find her happy ending. Audiences see a loving relationship develop between Debra and her grandson, who unfortunately grows up motherless, and therefore the film is relatively uplifting, although developed from a tragic narrative.
