ONE WORD REVIEW: INTRIGUING

Young, Native American Natalie (Kelsey Chow) is found lying in the snow, dead, after being raped. An FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) is called, and assisted by a local hunter (Jeremy Renner), to find those responsible. A murder mystery of sorts, which is astoundingly gripping, and full of many surprises. I thought this film was average, with a relatively simple plot structure, until the final statement: “While missing person statistics are compiled for every other demographic, none exist for Native American women. No one knows how many are missing.” This was incredibly hard-hitting, particularly after being shown Natalie’s struggle in the lead-up to her death and becoming more and more sympathetic towards the Native American community throughout the film. Therefore, the film is surprisingly emotional, however with the classic brutality expected of a Jeremy Renner performance.
